After winning a slalom on Saturday, American skier Mikaela Shiffrin established a new World Cup record for the most career victories with 87.

On the all-time list of winners, both male and female, Shiffrin defeated Ingemar Stenmark in a tie. The 1970s and 1980s saw the Swede compete.

Shiffrin’s victory in a giant slalom on Friday brought him level with Stenmark’s record of 86 wins.

The American’s performance on Saturday was his sixth of the season and his record-tying 53rd career victory in the slalom.

Shiffrin is scheduled to participate in three more races in the World Cup Finals the following week. She has already secured her fifth overall title as well as the GS and slalom discipline crowns.
