Fernie skier Kaleb Barnum took gold at the 2024 FIS Ski Cross Junior World Championships in Idre Fjäll Sweden.
Barnum won all four of his heats to earn the win, and went up against Whistler’s Nicholas Katrusiak in the final heat who placed second for the silver medal.
“It feels pretty sweet,” said Barnum.
“It was a super exciting day and it was a good time racing Nick in the finals with us coming from opposite sides of the bracket. It was fast racing today on a big track with a great drag strip at the bottom.”
Third place went to Till Hugenroth of Germany.
Both Canadians competed in the team event on Monday, where Canada placed second behind Germany.
