There is good news for Manchester United about Lisandro Martinez’s injury.
Martinez had to leave the game during Sunday’s 3-0 victory over West Ham United due to injury.
He hadn’t played since last month due to a chronic injury.
However, Argentine media state that Martinez will just be gone for two months and does not need surgery.
Gaston Edul says the defender has injured his collateral ligament, and he believes this.
Man United anticipates having the 26-year-old back in March following the international break.
For Erik ten Hag’s pivotal matches against Aston Villa this weekend and Manchester City next month, his main defender will therefore be sidelined.
Martinez will also be absent from the FA Cup fifth round match this month.
However, if he does make a comeback following the international break in March, he might be eligible to play against Brentford on March 30 before possibly facing Chelsea and Liverpool.
“We won’t know the diagnosis for a few days. We make every effort to determine the harm and obtain the correct diagnosis.
“He feels incredibly dejected and miserable. We are all truly at one with him. It is a personal tragedy in the first place, but it is also a terrible situation for the team because he contributes so much.”
“It is very bad – very bad for him, very bad for the team,” the Dutchman continued. He is a crucial member of our team.
“We have centre-backs who can fill in but he brings spirit to the team, apart from his football abilities.”
The Red Devils have won three and drawn one while Martinez has been at the back. They are still unbeaten inside one of their four contests.
